Hello there lovely Buttoneers! Happy December! It feels like I was only just sat at my desk writing up my October monthly round-up and now we have waved goodbye to Autumn.
Now we are knee-deep in grey, winter days where frosty mornings nip at your nose and misty afternoons make you crave snugly blankets and hot mugs of soup!
Lots of things happened in my world and in the big wide world this month. I always love documenting the little things, the everyday things, the run-of-the-mill things I am sure to forget when I am old, the favourites, the days out, the food, the way things make me feel…the little things that make up the bigger things, The things that fill my heart.
My favourite place for this is on Instagram but I love to share my monthly round-ups on here with you lovelies too. Not only that, but I love to look back over the last month and remember it all, soak it all up and move forward to more adventures.
Here is what went on Around Here…November 2015…
Around Here…I’ve always loved this intricate Gothic clock tower memorial in Stratford-Upon-Avon and never think to photograph it! It has Shakespeare quotes around the outside too, so that and the beautiful architecture and I’m in love! 😍 It was donated by an American publisher called George W. Childs in 1887 and features American Eagles, English Lions and numerous fairies from Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ – Fascinating!
Around Here…The Gothic clock tower memorial also has the smallest little door on the side! I like to think it’s for the house-elves that work the clock and keep it running smoothly! 😄
Around Here…”Imagine the wind in your hair, the sun on your face and the sand between your toes as you stroll along the creamy yellow beach amongst the rocks and driftwood with the seagulls calling out your name…”
Now you can, every day! I announced that my fabric ‘Beach Huts’ collage is now available as a PRINT!! It is available in the Eliston Button Etsy Shop 😉
Around Here…It’s very rare for me to catch the sunrise so when I do it feels extra magical 😍
Around Here…Fireworks! We found the best secret spot to watch them this year and we had a fantastic, uninterrupted view all to ourselves in Evesham 😍💥🎆
Around Here…Tewkesbury Abbey looked beautiful all lit up before their fireworks! 🎆💒
Around Here…The fireworks and bonfire at Tewkesbury were amazing tonight! I love these that look like palm trees 🌴🎆
Around Here…”Second star to the right and straight on ’til morning” – Peter Pan ✨ The grande finale of fireworks felt like it was raining stars…so dreamy 😍 Such a great night.
Around Here…It broke my heart to see this horrendous attack on Paris. I think it is fantastic how people come together to help one another, whatever their race or ethnicity, in the face of these horrors. Parisians opened their doors to help people get off the streets and into safety and this restored a part of a faith in humanity that gets torn away in times of terrorism. They put the ‘kind’ back into ‘humankind’. I love how quickly social media was used for good, to help others in need not to tear each other down. This should be the norm. (If anyone was stuck in the city of Paris that night they could have used the hashtag #PorteOuverte to find a safe place to spend the night)
Around Here…Had such a fabulous day catching up with my best friend Charlie over lunch and a potter around the gorgeous Burford Garden Company! Everything was so pretty, super festive and it was lovely to be around loved ones 😍🎄
Around Here…I love seeing artists at work in their creative spaces, it feels so inspiring. I snapped artist Rupert Acker at The Burford Garden Company in their in-house gallery space. He is a landscape painter from the Cotswolds who sells his paintings, among other ways, straight from the easel! I love this idea! He says “I love the idea of people buying freshly produced paintings as they might buy freshly cut flowers” – How wonderful 😍🎨
Around Here…”Who broke that egg yolk over the horizon this morning!?” I caught the sunrise again on this morning and it did not disappoint 😍
Around Here…When I think of steam trains, I can’t be the only one who thinks of Harry Potter steaming out of Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross on the Hogwarts Express or those old romantic black and white films where they talk really fast and love really deep… I am shouted ‘This Steam Train Stops at Hogwarts…Right!?’ and shared my Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway adventure here on the blog.
Around Here…At each station that the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam train stops at, it’s like stepping out into a long gone era…there is something truly magical about that…
Around Here…As most of you know by now – I love Autumn! So Autumn crafts are pretty much my favourite thing (along with Christmas crafts of course!) I shared my ‘Workspace Wednesday – Autumn Leaf Art’ for you see my pretty decorated leafy goodness! 🍃🍂🍁
Around Here…Don’t get me wrong, I only live across a main road from the countryside, but it’s seriously not every day (never) that you see a pheasant on your neighbour’s fence! Blimey! What an adventure he’s been on! 😳
Around Here…We went to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two at the Cinema in Cheltenham with my sister and her boyfriend. It was soooooooo good! I am really glad they mostly kept to the book story, so much so that it was exactly how I had imagined most of it from the book descriptions (I know…I know…I’m a nerd!)
Around Here…Really pretty wall art in a shop called Persora in Pershore, Worcestershire. I wonder what she wished for with all of those dandelion wishes?
Around Here…These glass baubles were so gorgeous with that Autumn sun streaming through, creating all of that colourful magic! I love them displayed on the branches too, bringing Autumn inside 😍🍂🍁🍃
Around Here…So…we bought Lego Dimensions for the Xbox One!! I am soooo excited to start playing it! It looks amazing and so does the portal – they should totally make light up Lego! We are big kids! 😍
Around Here…I am still super obsessed with my Autumn Leaf Art and can’t stop doodling on beautifully coloured leaves. I also couldn’t wait to show you what crafty goodness came of them in my new ‘Tutorial Tuesday’ the following day…
Around Here…I shared my ‘Tutorial Tuesday – Autumn Leaf Art Mobile’ 🍃🍂🍁 I love how I can bring the beauty of Autumn into my home and make it feel all cosy with their warming red russets, breathtaking browns and sun-dipped yellows. Not to mention all of that lovely handmade goodness!
Around Here…”…And when the sun dipped, it was like an explosion of copper hit everything in sight and it was just heavenly…” I posted ‘An Autumn Adventure’ in The Cotswolds, where I am said goodbye to the beauty of the season in its most beautiful outfit – sunshine!
Around Here…It was sooooo lovely to see the sun shining thorough my bright sunshine yellow blind in the kitchen in the morning! My little succulents were absorbing it’s comforting warmth and soaking up their water like good little happy plants ☀️💦 The water droplets looked like diamonds! 💎😍
Around Here…I had so much fun making my Autumn Leaf Art Mobile that I made a tutorial on my blog so you can too! Hooray! I love how the leaves sway as you move around them just like leaves clinging on to their branches before they take the leap and float gracefully down in the breeze…🍃🍂🍁
Around Here…You just can’t beat freshly baked French bread (well, part baked from the supermarket 😜) in the morning! The smell is divine! 🍞
Around Here…We reached the Doctor Who section of Lego Dimensions and we could not be more excited!! This was our Sunday and it was my favourite 😍
So, around here was pretty varied this month and was the first month in a long time that I felt a little more ‘on the ball’ with Instagram and documenting and life in general – I even had a blog plan! Blimey! I also loved being able to use those pretty little falling leaf emoji’s (A LOT!) Did you notice!? 😉 In fact Emoji’s in general are pretty much my jam at the moment! (Darn it – Where is my ‘jam’ emoji!?)
I still can’t believe we are into December now! Did you catch my last Christmas postage dates for any Eliston Button Etsy Shop orders before the holidays? Did you spot the fun Buttoneer exclusive announcement? (There are free gifts and discount codes and everything! Eeek!)
