Hello there Buttoneers! I am firmly into the twenties (not just in age thank you very much!) in my Create 28 blog challenge! Hooray! I feel like I still have a lot to go before the finish line (Have you seen my nifty little countdown on my sidebar!?) Five more to be precise, but I am gripping hold of the light at the end of the tunnel in my mind and ploughing through. Have you joined me on the ride so far? If not, grab a cup of tea and explore the past adventures here.
This week, we have a double whammy of crafty goodness and they are two lots of my favourites so far (I know…I know…I have said that before!)
I truly loved playing designer for a while whilst illustrating these lovelies and transporting them into digital prints. I am super in love with them (so much so that copies are already framed for the walls of my home!) I have always been a lover of quotes.
Quotes from all sorts of walks of life and adventures can inspire and hold your hand on your not so sparkly days, your need a boost days, your need motivation to move your butt days…You know the ones, the Pinterest pin-your-day-away-days!
So, designing and illustrating my own ‘made up out of my crafty imagination’ quotes seemed like an obvious crafty adventure for me to pack my pencil crayons for.
I am so thrilled with them and I hope you love them too! Without further ado, Here is No. 22 & 23 in my Create 28 blog challenge…
“Spread a Little Sunshine on your Toast this Morning”
This is an original quote, created in my own imagination when I needed to brighten up a cloudy grey day. Along the lines of creating your own happiness each day and bringing your own sunshine to your day, I wanted to add a fresh and bright fun pop of colour to your wall. This quote print would look amazing in your kitchen or dining area to catch your eye and remind you to keep smiling and to add a bright sunshiney splash of warm colour to your day.
The mixture of my own hand lettering and a contrasting digital font makes a gorgeous combination and has an almost vintage sign inspired feel. I can imagine this print hung in a 1950’s American diner!
I love the hardness and edges of the digital text against the soft flowing hand lettering that really come together with the hand-drawn illustration. I always love to include my own hand-written type to my graphic designs as I believe it adds a real human and personal touch that digital fonts cannot convey alone.
The happy yellow sunshine brightens up the black hand-written lettering in different styles. A black drop shadow behind the ‘Sunshine’ lettering allows the word to pop out and stand out, as does the matching yellow shadow behind the black digital font on the word ‘Toast’. The placement of text and sizes and colours were all carefully thought out and planned to come together to form this typographic quote illustration.
“There is an Old Lady Who Lives in my Soul, She Likes to Knit and Drink Tea”
This is an original quote, created in my own imagination that sums up a great deal about my old soul and creative hobbies!
The pretty floral mug and ball of wool illustration was hand-drawn by me and then digitally edited to add colour. The quote itself is a mixture of an Art Deco inspired digital font and hand lettering for a gorgeous contrasting typographic mix.
Perfect for any old soul like me, or even just a lover of cups of tea and knitting!
The digital text is black with a lavender purple hand-written lettering in between. The bright, fresh blue mug has pastel pink roses illustrated on to it with light green leaves each side. The deep and pale purple tones complement each other on the ball of wool/yarn and the peachy beige knitting needles sit tucked into it on the left side. The illustration is also outlined and detail has been added in a black ink to allow it to stand out and become an eye-catching print.
These typographic quote illustration prints are A4 size which is approx. 29.7 x 21cm. The print you will receive will be printed on to a high quality card with rich coloured inks by myself so that the little creative perfectionist in me can ensure a high quality print.
Each Print is signed at the bottom in small print with ‘© Rachel Eliston’ – this does not affect the image itself. The Eliston Button Copyright will not appear on the prints and is just for the photographs to ensure their protection.
Frames are not provided to keep postage costs low for you but I will happily recommend or share information to anyone that enquires about framing.
Other sizes may be available by custom order request or similarly by Etsy conversation.
Which one is your favourite? Where would you hang each of the prints? Do you share my ‘old soul’ hobbies of knitting and drinking tea? Would my sunshine print wake you up with a smile? I would love to hear all about it!
Both of my prints along with all of my other crafty goodness that is for sale can be found in the Eliston Button Etsy Shop. I will launch these lovelies as soon as possible!
Keep an eye out towards the end of the week for another dose of Create 28 – I will complete this challenge, even if it kills me!
