Hello there lovely Buttoneers! It’s time for another Create 30 blog challenge instalment! Hooray! Are we really only on numbers 3 and 4 though!? I really thought I had done more! Oops! That doesn’t bode well does it! Eeek!
I better get my crafty socks pulled up and get a wiggle on!
If you are new to this little crafty, adventure filled corner of the blogosphere then you can catch up on my Create 30 bloggity-blog challenge in my post – Create 30 – Let’s Do This!
In the past a fair few of you have asked me whether I was going to make a crochet version of my ‘Knit and Drink Tea’ print or have said “Oh! But I crochet instead of knit!” and this has played around in the back of my mind with the view to have a play with some ideas and either make a crochet version or create a whole new illustrated quote print for crochet entirely. So when I came to sit down with my very large cup of tea (and an equally large slice of brain cake – not cake made out of brains – more like a cake that is fuel for my brain!!)
I gathered up all of those tiny ideas and sparks of creativity that fly around constantly in my imagination and thought that there was no time like the present!
I really love my ‘Knit and Drink Tea’ print and it definitely sums up my crafty little old soul and really wanted to make this a crochet option. However, I also had a rhyming crochet quote flitting around my head which wouldn’t go away! When I had made the decision to also create an entirely new quote print alongside the other one, the illustration kind of appeared in my head as a basic idea and the more I thought about it, the stronger and more detailed it became. So there it was – I just had to create both!
It also gave me the opportunity to be able to launch the two products and Create 30 numbers together at the same time and in the same blog post announcement – I learnt this little time saving nugget in my Create 28 blog challenge and I hope this will allow me to squeeze them all in and give me more time for making all of the handmade goodness!
I am so super proud of them both and am really excited to be creating more illustrated quote prints for the Eliston Button Etsy Shop.
I really love drawing with a pencil and paper before digitally rendering the colour – the whole process, even though it takes a really long time, is so enjoyable for me.
It is super rewarding when I can (finally!) get the very end result in front of me. I really hope you love them as much as I do – There is a lot of heart and soul in all of my prints and they always feel very personal because of the creative journey and adventure they have taken to get to the final print.
So, without further ado (and I will finish waffling on!) here is Create 30 – No. 3 & 4 – Crochet Illustrated Quote Prints…
The pretty blue mug adorned with pretty pink rose flowers and shaded green leaves, the detailed deep purple ball of wool and the sage green chunky crochet hook illustrations were hand-drawn by me and then digitally rendered with colour and shading to add a pop of colour to your home or craft space. Imagine yourself grabbing a big mug of tea and sitting down with your yarn and crochet hook for a bit of relaxation every time you see this print and you will soon be making a small amount of time here and there to sip, unwind and be adventurous with your creativity.
The quote itself is a mixture of an Art Deco inspired digital font and hand lettering for a gorgeous contrasting typographic mix. I love the hardness and edges of the digital text against the soft flowing hand lettering that really come together with the hand-drawn illustration.
I always love to include my own hand-written type to my graphic designs as I believe it adds a real unique and personal touch that digital fonts cannot convey alone. The digital text is black with a lavender purple hand-written lettering in between.
Next up is my brand new idea! I am so excited to share this one with you as I love it!
“Crochet the Day Away”
How many of us have done this? Crocheting away and before you know it, it is tea time (and you started after lunch!) or that feeling when you are at work and you think to yourself…*sigh* Today I really could just crochet the whole day away”
Go on admit it! We have all been there, or at the very least you know someone who could totally relate to this crochet quote print!
This super fun illustrated quote print features a hand drawn and rich purple coloured vintage style clock shape with crochet hook clock hands that look as if they are ticking by hour after hour of unnoticed time spent crocheting! The gorgeous deep pink coloured hands and clock legs match the bold little clock numbers around the outside. Next to this is an illustrated and detailed ball of teal coloured yarn with a pretty peach coloured crochet hook nestled into it for safe keeping.
Above the illustration is the hand lettered word ‘Crochet’ in an eye-catching script that flows up and down in sync with the creativity happening below. The loose end of the teal yarn falls below and sweeps around where the typed font of the quote ‘The Day’ sits before the yarn tail flicks back up to gracefully frame the hand lettered word ‘Away’ to complete this original quote – ‘Crochet the Day Away’
Perfect for any lover of crochet! This print really does add a splash of colour and a great creative reminder to any home or crafty space that will be sure to spark conversation and a knowing giggle or two – us crafty kids know how it is!
Both typographic quote illustration prints are A4 size which is approx. 29.7 x 21cm but other sizes may be available by custom order request if you come and have a chat with me over on Etsy. The print you will receive will be printed on to a high quality card with rich coloured inks by myself so that the little creative perfectionist in me can ensure a high quality print.
Each Print is signed at the bottom in small print with ‘© Rachel Eliston’ – this does not affect the image itself. The Eliston Button Copyright will not appear on the prints and is just for the photographs to ensure their protection.
Frames are not provided to keep postage costs low and to prevent the print from being potentially damaged in shipping but I will happily recommend or share information to anyone that enquires about framing.
So there you go and now you know! There are all of the important details about each print, I think I have remembered it all but if you have any questions just chat to me and we can have a natter.
Do you love to crochet? What are you working on at the moment? I bet you can relate to one of these crochet prints! Which print is your favourite? I would love to hear all about it!
4 down! Blimey! As I mentioned in my Create 30 – Let’s Do This! Blog post, I will be listing each Create 30 make into my shop for purchase as I go along. You can now find this little dose of creativity in the Eliston Button Etsy Shop amongst the handmade goodness – I would love for you to grab a cup of tea and explore!
