Workspace Wednesday – Embroidery Thread Organisation

Good morning Buttoneers! It seems like a while since we had a ‘Workspace Wednesday’ because last week’s became my Daffodil brooch! This week I am having a bit of a sort out and organising my craft supplies a bit more so they are easier to use.

One of my pet hates and especially as I use them so much, are my embroidery threads getting tangled and knotted. So, a few years ago,  I had a peruse of Pinterest and found a great idea. Winding my threads around pegs to keep them tidy and unwound from their skeins, where they inevitably get knotted and I get stressed.

So in moments of time where I have a minute, I will sit and wind the embroidery thread around the pegs, keeping the colours together for each different peg (obviously – I am a bit of an organisation freak when I get going)

It is actually very therapeutic and relaxing, which gives me a little bit of downtime and makes me have a bit of a break when I am working in the studio.

Not to mention that they look super fun and colourful at the same time as being so much easier to grab a colour when I need it.

Don’t they look lovely altogether!? Have you got any organisation tips? How do you store your embroidery thread? I would love to hear all about it.

Meet me for a chat with a cup of tea in the comments below. I’ll click the kettle on!

Wow, there’s something so stunningly beautiful about seeing that embroidery thread wrapped around the clothespins. Those are little works of are you have there, Rachel. I can totally see how wrapping them would be therapeutic. I feel similarly about so many of my “tedious” craft projects. It doesn’t feel like work to me…and so I get lost in it for hours…. 😉

Thank you Lauren, you are so sweet to me 🙂 I love that they look so pretty but yet are super practical. Anything that is more organised is right up my street! Hehe!
