Good morning Buttoneers! The sun is shining and the sky is blue and I have another brooch for you (ooo look, I rhymed!) Check out the start of this blog challenge here!
Brooch number seven is inspired by the little bit of sunshine we have been getting this week and the promise of spring just around the corner.
It seems to be the case of late, that I am thoroughly inspired by the find of a button or a centre piece that lets my imagination run wild with creative possibilities. This brooch was not any different, because when I laid my eyes on this gem, I saw its potential straight away.
The brooch just magically appeared in my head and I let the creative juices flow, amazed by how just a colour can make you instantly think of one thing. Sunshine yellow…
I love the zigzag stitches, their simplicity and boldness across the sunshine yellow felt really stand out in a lemon yellow embroidery thread. It makes me think of ice cold lemonade on a hot summer’s day…they also kind of remind me of those zigzag sun rays we all drew as a child with a bright yellow crayon!
I placed it all together so I could see how it would all fit and make sure I had enough petals before attaching it all together at the end.
Seven down – Twenty to go! I can’t believe how fast it is going. I am still super excited to see how I get on with this blog challenge and really think I should have planned out each brooch at the start! At least this way, whatever comes next is a surprise for us all!
What do you think? Which is your favourite brooch so far? Still sat dreaming of a glass of wine on the balcony, overlooking the lemon grove in Tuscany aren’t you? Same here! Race you to the swimming pool!
When you are dried off come and meet me for a chat with a cup of tea in the comments below. I’ll click the kettle on!
