Hello there my lovely Buttoneers! How was your weekend? I am still singing…
“Oh I do like to be beside the seaside, Oh I do like to be beside the sea…”
as last weekend my fiancé and I jumped in the car and went for a much needed mini break away to the seaside. I love Weston-Super-Mare. I love that it is a proper and totally stereotypical great British seaside. I love the magic of the place. I love the old fashioned seaside feel you get when you stroll along the seafront. I love the donkeys on the beach. I love the sound of the amusements on the Grand Pier. I love the smell of doughnuts and candy floss and the salty sea air on my face and in my hair. I love the sounds of the seagulls and the taste of the ice cream. I love the seaside.
Especially when the view from our hotel room was just perfect…
I love the Grand Pier at Weston-Super-Mare. It is beautifully tacky, just like the seaside should be. It is iconic and well designed and it makes me feel like I am five years old with a handful of 2 pence coins clutched in my chubby little fingers ready for the amusement machines!
The sea goes so far out from the beach! For those of you who don’t know, Weston-Super-Mare is nicknamed Weston-Super-Mud because when the tide goes so far out it leaves a boggy, sinking sand where the sea should be! It’s not often I have seen the tide in but the view from the pier is beautiful.
It really is a ‘take a deep breath of sea air and let everything blow away on the breeze and into the sea’ kind of view.
I really didn’t want to leave.
Can you spot me on the Carousel? Ten points to Gryffindor if you can!
I loved this Paddington Bear sand sculpture, how talented you must be to sculpt out of tiny grains of sand!
I love the beach. I love the sand between my toes and the sound of the waves against the shore line. We didn’t venture into the mud and stayed firmly on the soft golden sand!
I found this little plane on the beach and just had to take a photograph. Can you imagine the fun that child (or grown up) had on the beach that day? They couldn’t possibly have had as much fun as I did!
We walked along the beach a lot and right underneath the pier! Look at all of those geometric shapes in the structure!
This is one of my favourite photographs I took this entire long weekend! It’s super cheesy but I think we can get away with it at the seaside can’t we!?
The sunset was just gorgeous. I love that I captured the boat right in the reflection of the giant orange sun right in front of the little island called ‘Steep Holm’ that you can see just off the coast. Steep Holm makes me think of Famous Five adventures in the books I read as a child.
The beach looked as if it were made of glass as it gracefully reflected the sunset. So beautiful.
Even the hotel room view was fabulous at night as the Grand Pier lit up and the seafront came alive with the energy of bustling bars and restaurants.
Obviously, I kept my eyes peeled for crafty finds too! I love these fab notebooks I found in Tesco reduced to 50p each! I obviously had to buy them in every colour! hehe!
It would have been a travesty to not call in to Hobbycraft too, especially when I have a gift voucher, especially when they had a huge clearance sale! Perfection! Look at those fabulous pink metal hooks and wall hangings in the shape of sewing machines! They will look so great in the Eliston Button Headquarters near the sewing table! I am also totally in love with Curly Girl Designs over in America and was super excited to find my favourite piece of her work on a card! eeek! I almost squealed! I am planning to frame it for somewhere in the house.
We had such a great break away. It’s amazing how just a long weekend at the seaside can feel like a whole week. It definitely blew the cobwebs away and I definitely got a case of the holiday blues when I got back. The sign of a fantastic holiday though I think!
Also, In last week’s Tutorial Tuesday – Washi Tape Pen Pots, I promised an Eliston Button Etsy Shop announcement! So…..Here it is! For a limited time only I am offering a grand old 20% off in the Eliston Button Etsy Shop as a part of my Autumn Sale using the code ‘HELLOAUTUMN’
I am super excited to be holding my first ever Eliston Button sale and hope you can grab some crafty goodness ready for Christmas prezzies, Christmas party accessories or even treat yourself! You deserve it!
Well, I know I am going to be dreaming of the seaside for a long time now! What is your favourite thing about the seaside? Where do you love to go to get away for a bit? I would love to hear all about it!
