Hello there lovely Buttoneers! You know I love a good craft tutorial and you know that I LOVE Christmas…Well today I am smushing the two wonderful and festive doses of magic together into a Creative Christmas Card Tutorial! Hooray! Now you may have noticed that I have titled this blog post with the word *video* and might be surprised at the new bloggity-blog format…well, recently I was asked to make a video for a possible future crafty adventure and I thought I would create one that I could also share with you lovelies too.

Turns out you can do a lot of things when you put your mind to it, add a smidge of determination and a dollop of blind faith and sometimes…just sometimes, it’s magic.

Now, if you know me in real life or have been following this little corner of the internet for a long time, you may know that shoving my face in front of a camera and chatting away is absolutely not second nature to me. In fact, shoving my face in front of a camera and then sharing it with the world (well, you lovely lot!) is soooooo far out of my comfort zone that I can barely reach it with my crafty little fingers. But, I grabbed the bull by the horns, threw caution to the wind, hoped for the best and (after about a thousand takes) didn’t entirely hate how it turned out. In fact, in the end, I really enjoyed it, it felt liberating and I was ever so jolly proud of myself for even thinking I could do it. Sat in front of a video camera. Trying not to cringe at the sound of your own voice on the playback – What’s with that by the way!? Why do we all sound so different to how we sound in our heads!?

Rather than this video to be hidden away into the deepest corners of my hard drive, never to be seen again, I thought I’d document that I was once brave enough to jump of the creative cliff and figured out how to fly (ish) on the way down…

As it is my first video I can assure you it’s not all polished to perfection and all singing, all dancing with a cherry on top fabulous, but I can promise my very best effort and a few laughs at the end. I put a lot of enthusiasm into this and that’s what counts right!? So without further ado…Here is my Tutorial Tuesday – A Creative Christmas Card Video Tutorial…

P.S. There are bloopers 😉

10 glittering button points to Gryffindor (or the Hogwarts house of your choice) if you made it to the blooper reel at the end! Haha! My favourite blooper is the rug one and how I had a little laugh to myself! Like I said before, this was never meant to be the most polished and professional looking video – Heck uploading it to YouTube was scary stuff – Does this make me a cool kid now!?

I just really love that I was able to document a little crafty adventure and just know that my crafty, memory keeping future self will be so glad that I not only kept this little dose of handmade goodness, but I threw it out there in to the big wide world.

I will be proud of my younger self for being brave and for grabbing all of that fear and anxiety and used it to leap out of my comfort fort full of pillows and pyjamas and put myself out there in such a big yet scary and vulnerable way. I have no idea whether I will do anything like this again but for now I really hope you enjoyed seeing a bit of a different slice of who I am behind the crafty makes and handmade treasures in my Etsy Shop or the fun little updates on this here blog.
