A while back, before I started this blog, I made some little purple, teal and orange embroidered felt flower petals, with the vision of making a smaller brooch than I normally make. I love the vivid colours all together and how striking they were, even though they were a lot smaller. What they lacked in size, they made up for in vibrancy and cheer. Although when I came to stitch them together, the felt was too thick for my needles, It made my fingers hurt to try and sew them together any more and this was upsetting. The little petals lived in my sewing box for months and every time I reached in they stared at me with longing stitches to be made into something beautiful (This really is an ugly duckling story)
So this morning, When I pulled on my deep purple top and my fringe got in my eyes (It needs a trim) I thought to myself “If only I had a hair pin that coordinated”
Then in a flash of inspiration I remembered the sad little petals in the sewing box and hatched my master plan! [Insert evil laugh and ideas of world domination here]
I grabbed them out, told them I was sorry and saw their little stitches light up when I found them a little purpose in life. Happy little stitches…
I love them and had enough petals to make another set, which may make an appearance in my Etsy store when I launch in June.
And…even better than that…Just because I was a bit of a perfectionist this morning and imagined up an ever so pretty (if I dare say so myself) use for the lonely little petals, I made some more of the little smaller than usual petals and made a pretty hair comb clip…which may be my favourite…
What do you think? Are you glad the story had a happy ending for those pretty little felt petals?
