Workspace Wednesday – Studio Update

Workspace Wednesday at www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

The Eliston Button Headquarters is still a mess – in fact that statement right there is a total understatement! I am getting there…slowly, but wanted to share my workspace with you all and give you a bit of a progress update (of the more tidier areas!)

This is the start of what will eventually be my sewing table. I am in love with my new apothecary jar! I found this treasure in a charity shop just before we moved and knew it would be lovely filled with my small white button collection. This is currently my favourite slice of the studio, mainly because it’s near enough finished but also because it is acting as my desk at the moment due to a total removal company fail on my beloved white Hemnes desk 🙁 Hopefully things will get sorted and I will be back in action with my big desk. It is amazing how much not having a familiar workspace can affect your creativity.

My art books were one of the items out of boxes and into shelving. I am super excited to show you all my finished studio (if I ever get there!) as my corner shelving is just organisation heaven and looks pretty darn swanky, if I dare say so myself! This is just a small portion of my arty crafty books (I am a total book collector!) but they look so lovely all together, I need to organise the shelf below a little better but it’s all coming together.

This is the far corner of the studio. I have a new corner desk for bigger projects, which will be great to spread out across and see what I am working on…when it’s not covered in pens and pencils and scissors that is! I love my large chests of drawers too, great for storage and hiding away the mess!

I still have shelves to fill…

…and boxes to empty…and units to move…and a lot of organisation needed…but I will get there in the end! I am seriously looking forward to finishing it all off and getting back in to my creative zone. I need to get my crafty mojo back and I think a completed studio will sort that out. It’s amazing how much time it all takes but I will keep you all updated on here or through my Instagram feed so be sure to hop over and say hi!

I have a work desk from IKEA from the Linnmon/Finnvard range. I needed more storage desperately but had no room. So I bought a chest of drawers called Malm from there that is for their bedroom range, but it slips underneath my desk perfectly with leg room for me, leaving me with ample space on my desk, and I don’t have all the mountains of sketchbooks and tools distracting me!

I love Ikea! My whole studio is kitted out in Ikea furniture! I have a linnmon corner desk and little desk which i am using as a sewing table. I also have 3 malm chest of drawers! The malms are great as they are deep and really sturdy for all of our heavy art supplies! Hooray for ikea and less distractions!
